Inspected and rated 'Good' by the Care Quality Comission (CQC)

Currently located within Redcar Primary Care Hospital at Bentley practice, the GP Out of Hours service is delivered in addition to the GP Improved Access hours. The service also integrates with NHS 111 and provides support to our local Accident and Emergency department at The James Cook University Hospital, Paramedics and local Community Nursing services.

We operate the out of hours service from 6:30pm until 8am the following morning on weekdays and from 6:30pm Friday to 8:00am Monday morning.  Patients access appointments by calling NHS 111, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year enabling them to have much greater access to health care staff, as and when they need it. Once clinically assessed via a telephone consultation, our patients are either managed and treated during the clinical telephone assessment or offered either a home visiting appointment or a face-to-face appointment at the hub. Appropriate medication is prescribed or a treatment plan offered for all patients.

Our home visiting service is in line with national standards and all home visit appointments are clinically assigned to be within 1hrs (Emergency), 2hrs (Urgent) and 6hrs (Routine). The service is delivered by suitably trained experienced clinicians, using a properly medically equipped vehicle, who will be able to:-

  • Treat in the patient’s home;
  • Arrange for further home based treatment to be provided;
  • Refer the patient to a hub for treatment, and;
  • Refer to specialist secondary care services, including admission to hospital

ELM Alliance ensures our home visiting vehicle allows clinicians to have access to a defibrillator, oxygen, oxygen saturation monitor, nebuliser and a non-controlled drug box.
